Canada’s older population was seen to factor in the increase of the disability rate from 12.4% of the total population in 2001 to 21.2% in 2006 translated to about 4.4 million. This has shifted Canada’s demographic dramatically with the older population from households reporting limitation in activity due to physical or psychological condition. The Stats Canada also reported that women in general are more likely to report activity limitation than men among older population.
For younger men and women, there was the same disability rate reported amongst 15-24 year olds. However, for children aged 0-14, boys has activity limitation rate of 4.6% compared to girls at 2.7%.
